How can I get a rig like the cat/Food Thieve rig? The cat/Food Thieve rig was created by working very closely to the client to understand what their needs for the animation were, which allowed us to achieve the quality they expected. So we are prepared to understand your needs and create an intuitive rig that can fit your animation expectations.
What’s it like to work with you guys? Do we get to see versions of the rig before it’s considered done? For sure! The way we work is like this: you can expect to receive a first version of the body rig as soon as possible so that your animation team or animation supervisor can test our rig and get familiar with it. This is an important moment of the process, when we expect to receive as much feedback on the rig as possible before starting to work on the facial rig.
How long does it take to make a rig? It depends on what kind of rig you need and the level of complexity involved. For a standard cartoony bipedal character with a standard facial rig, we estimate that it would take around 5 days to complete. But if you have more advanced requirements, like complex rigs or additional features, the timeline might vary. We can work on 2-3 rigs at the same time if the team is available.
Do you rig in Blender? No, Maya only.
Do you guys use customized plugins? Nope. All of our rigs are created using only default deformers and nodes from Maya. We don’t use any other plugin.
In case our rig requires blendshapes, do we have to provide them or can you? Feel free to choose what is best for your project. We usually suggest that the client provides them because that way you have more control of the result. But if you prefer, we can provide them, we would only need to discuss quantity and due date.
Do you offer Muscle and Cloth simulation? No. We do not work with muscle and cloth simulation, nor motion capture support or compatibility and real-time engines (Unity, games).
What happens if there’s a bug and my team needs your help to solve it? No worries! Our team is available to give support to your project for any bugs or issues caused by our rigs for an unlimited time. However, in case of skinning adjustments, UV, body proportions and model updates we can discuss a support schedule and prices that better suit the changes you need.
I already have a rig but it has some problems. Can you fix it? We can take a look at it for sure. Here at Kippcase we work with very unique rigging methods and our own scripts that not all riggers use or are familiar with, so please keep in mind that we can’t guarantee full compatibility and there’s a chance we won’t be able to fix it 100%.
